Meet Jim Greer, MVCC Welding Professor

Jim Greer is a senior certified welding inspector and has a Master of Science degree from Chicago State University. He is a former president of the American Welding Society (2004-2005) and is currently the president of the Techno-Weld Welding Consultants. Jim earned an Associate in Science degree from Moraine Valley Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, and a Master of Science from Chicago State University.

Meet Dave Viar, MVCC Mechanical Technologies Department Chair and Welding Program Coordinator

Dave Viar is a certified welding inspector and earned the Certified Welding Inspector of the Year Award in 2016. He earned his Advanced Welding Certificate from Moraine Valley in 2001.

Meet Andy Hufnagl, MVCC EMS Program Coordinator

Andrew Hufnagl has been with Moraine Valley since fall 2003. He began his role with Moraine as an adjunct instructor in the Fire Science Program. He became the Coordinator of the Fire Science program in 2004. In 2005 he was asked to also Coordinate the EMS program. He began his fire service career as a volunteer in 1993. He was hired as a full-time firefighter/paramedic with the Alsip Fire Department in 1997. He still works full-time at Alsip where he is now the Shift Commander.

He has increased class offerings at Moraine Valley, enhanced partnerships with local fire departments and area hospitals, and helped make Moraine Valley the place to go to get the education necessary to begin a career as a first responder.

Andrew has a Master’s degree from Lewis University, a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, two Associate’s of Applied Science degrees from Moraine Valley, dozens of certifications from the State Fire Marshall’s Office and two licenses from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
