MVCC Early College

Moraine Valley offers dual credit and dual enrollment courses so that high school students can shorten the time needed to complete a post-secondary degree.

Allows high school students the opportunity to earn college and high school credits by enrolling in select classes, offered and taught by qualified college instructors at the high school.

Moraine Valley Community College and participating high schools enter into annual dual credit agreements for selected courses at free or reduced costs.

Allows high school students, 16 years or older with permission from their high school to enroll in and earn college credit for college courses at Moraine Valley. These courses can be taken during part of your regular school day, after school, online or even on weekends during the fall, spring and summer semesters at Moraine Valley’s main campus, Education Center in Blue Island or the Southwest Education Center in Tinley Park.

Dual Enrollment students are considered college students, which allows them to earn college credit that can fulfill many general education and career course requirements toward their college degree.

After High School Graduation

The biggest question students face when leaving high school is what will be next. When students leave high school, they go in many different directions. For an increasing number of students, the next step may be postsecondary education and training. Postsecondary education and training are for students who want to continue to learn in another environment after high school. Reasons for pursuing further education differ but often include obtaining credentials in a field of interest or securing a better paying job. Postsecondary options are varied and may include public or private universities, colleges, community colleges, career/technical schools, vocational/trade schools, centers for continuing education, campus transition programs, and apprenticeship programs. Today’s students may access traditional or online formats as a means of obtaining the education they will need to expand their opportunities and meet their career and life goals.
